A Cleveland Browns fan takes issue with my 0-10 prediction
[picappgallerysingle id="7165159"]
Will the Cleveland Browns current train wreck of a team go 0-10 in their first 10 games, not according to a Cleveland Browns lifelong fan who thinks I don’t have the Browns figured out. Fort Myers, Florida businessman, Mike McGuigan thinks my analysis of the Browns next 8 games is incorrect. He has something else in store for the Browns in their coming games.
I predicted on Monday that the Browns will likely go 0-10 with the likes of Baltimore, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, New Orleans, New England, and the New York Jets among others upcoming for the Brownies. The offense has shown me little, they are turning the ball over too much, they commit too many penalties and the defense is not stopping anyone.
But after speaking to Mr. McGuigan, he thinks the Browns losing streak stops this week when the Cleveland Browns travel to Baltimore. In fact, he predicts that the Cleveland Browns will win their next three divisional games against the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers in the next four weeks. I happen to think he’s crazy and Eric Mangini will be fired before the Cleveland Browns bye week, but he offers up some advice when discussing the Cleveland Browns.
McGuigan says, “The Cleveland Browns always play to the level of their opponent”. Well, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs are now both 2-0. McGuigan says that the Browns always play divisional opponents tough, which is true for almost all NFL teams, but after watching this team in the past two weeks lose games they should have won and then magically think they are going to beat Baltimore this week coming off a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, I just can’t see that happening.
I understand the lifelong fan passion for a team. So my wager is that if the Cleveland Browns sweep the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers before their bye week in week 8, Mike McGuigan can have my column and you can read him here under his by-line at Brownscentral.com because I must not understand anything about the football I’m watching.
Cleveland Browns could go 0-10
After losing two very winnable games, it appears now that the Cleveland Browns could possibly go 0-10 before a chance to win a game. Aside from 9 penalties, two turnovers and mediocre quarterback play, the Cleveland Browns should have beaten the Kansas City Chiefs yesterday. Cleveland now finds itself in a hole it might not recover from for a long while.
Sunday morning thoughts on Browns vs Chiefs

Last week the Cleveland Browns let a very winnable game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers slip through their fingers. It’s difficult to say that in week 2, a team is facing a must win situation, but you can almost say that about today’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cleveland Browns. The Cleveland Browns, as I said, should be looking at going 2-0 in today’s home opener, but they aren’t. Cleveland must win today in order to get some sort of momentum heading into the next five games.
Next up for Cleveland are games @Baltimore, home against the Bengals and Falcons, then two away games, @Pittsburgh and @New Orleans. The Browns then get a rest before having to come back and host two home games against the New England Patriots and New York Jets. That is brutal my friends. There is a possibility that after the gun sounds around 4pm on November 14th, Cleveland could be looking at a 0-10 start.
Yes there are some winnable games on that slate. The Atlanta Falcons are playing some poor defense right now. The Pittsburgh game will be the first game back for Ben Roethlisberger and he won’t be 100%. You never know what you’ll get with the Cincinnati Bengals. However, the winning MUST start today to avoid a slide into a prolonged losing streak.
I cannot stress enough that the Browns have to get their running game going against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs run defense is suspect and the Browns MUST capitalize on that fact. I am picking the Browns to win today for two reasons. I think Peyton Hillis will have a huge day and I don’t like teams that go on the road after a Monday night victory. Don’t forget, the Chiefs are not a seasoned veteran team, sure they beat their divisional opponent, the San Diego Chargers on Monday night, but they are coming off a 4-12 season and are rebuilding as well.
Cleveland Browns keys to the game vs. the Kansas City Chiefs

The man in the photo above is Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, and one of the keys to the Cleveland Browns winning the game this Sunday against the Chiefs will be to stop him. The Kansas City Chiefs have a great running attack with Jamaal Charles and veteran Thomas Jones, whom they acquired this offseason in free agency. Run defense was an issue for the Cleveland Browns last season and it will get tested this Sunday when this dynamic duo comes to Cleveland.
The quarterback situation for the Cleveland Browns is still not resolved, it does appear more and more likely that Seneca Wallace will get the start this Sunday. Quite frankly, I don’t think that is a bad thing. Wallace brings that new dimension of mobility to the pocket. I even picked the Browns to win this week. Yeah, I know, what was I thinking at the time. However, I do not like teams which win on Monday night traveling on the road the next week, so I’m going with that trend.
Cleveland has to come out and establish the run early. As bad as the Browns were versus the run last year, the Kansas City Chiefs were worse. The Browns could have beaten the Buccaneers last week if they had continued to push the run. Jake Delhomme or any other Cleveland quarterback currently on the roster needs to be tossing the football 40 times a game. Two words to Eric Mangini. Peyton Hillis. I love this kid, I think if the Browns fed him the ball enough times, he could win three games this season by himself.
Force the run game, the Browns have one of the better offensive lines in the NFL, use it. The forecast on Sunday calls for showers, come out and grind the damn ball. The Browns better get serious about this game with the Ravens and Bengals up in weeks 3 and 4.
Cleveland Browns quiet on Delhomme status
[picappgallerysingle id="9746793"]
The Cleveland Browns are remaining very quiet on the status of QB Jake Delhomme and his injured ankle. He was spotted wearing an ankle boot at the Browns workout. According to the Canton Repository, indications are that Seneca Wallace would be getting the bulk of the reps with the first team offense this afternoon.
It is only Wednesday but if Delhomme doesn’t get the bulki of the reps tomoorw or Friday, it’s most likely that Wallace will be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns home opener against the Kansas City Chiefs this coming Sunday.
The Browns have not revealed the results of the tests performed on Delhomme’s ankle or even what sort of tests were conducted.
