As the Cleveland Browns opened camp, one player was already lost for a few weeks due to injury. RB Montario Hardesty. Mary Kay Cabot reports via Twitter that Hardesty will miss a few weeks because he twisted his knee before camp opened.

Hardesty was drawing praise from coaches during the team OTA’s this off season but when he was drafted, there were concerns about his past injuries, predominantly his knee. Browns fans should hope this isn’t an omen of things to come for Hardesty.

Earlier this month it was announced that Cleveland Browns DT Shaun Rodgers avoided a possible conviction and perhaps jail sentence on a felony gun charge. Rodgers will have his charges dismissed if and when he completes 40 hours of community service and a 10 hour gun class. That seemed like good news at the time, however while speaking to the NFL Network, Browns GM Mike Holmgren feels that the tackle will be disciplined by the league.

Holmgren said, “We have not heard from the league. Do I think (a suspension) will be done? Probably”. The loss of Rodgers for an undetermined period of time might not be that detrimental because when Rodgers was lost to injury in 2009, 2nd year DT Ahtyba Rubin stepped in and played well.
