Which I think is a very bad selection.

How about a quarterback now Cleveland?

The first round is over, and all 32 teams have had a chance to sleep on it.  This is an interesting twist to the draft, where the NFL holds the first round on one day and the second round commences the next day, 18 hours later. I expect there will be a lot of trading tonight when the draft commences at 6pm.

So who is on the radar? Of course the Browns are linked to a quarterback. Many mocks had the Browns selecting Jimmy Clausen in the first or Colt McCoy early in the second.

Browns President Mike Holmgren has said publically that he wished he liked Jimmy Clausen more. Then again, there is also Texas QB Colt McCoy still on the board for the Browns at #38 and the 6th overall pick in the second round.

I think Cleveland will pass on both of these quarterbacks, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Browns trade down at #38 to acquire additional picks.

Has Mike Holmgren lost his mind?

Let me preface this by saying that I do like many of the moves Browns President Mike Holmgren has pulled of this Spring. Well, except for paying the turnover machine formerly known as Jake Delhomme 7 million dollars.

The signings of LB Scott Fujita, OL Tony Pashos, TE Benjamin Watson, offering RB Josh Cribbs a new contract. The trades for veteran CB Sheldon Brown, LB Chris Gocong and acquiring RB Peyton Hillis in the Brady Quinn deal, good moves all.

Browns draft in the first round

I’ve spent the last week reading other online bloggers stating that the Browns are going to select Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen in the first round at the #7 pick and I’m not buying it. Browns GM Mike Holmgren is a great evaluator of talent at the quarterback position and with a team with as many needs as Cleveland, he isn’t take Clausen with the #7 pick. Mortgage the house, sell the kids, go to the bank, Clausen will not be joining the Browns, this team has just too many other needs.
